John Norman Carpenter "Jack" - Class of 1958

John Norman Carpenter, "Jack" as he was fondly known by all, age 77 years, and an area resident of Athens, entered eternal life on Monday, November 13, 2017. Jack was born on October 28, 1940, in Newburgh, N.Y., and is the son of the late Charles Martin and Alberta (Schimmel) Carpenter. Jack loved spending time with his family and hunting. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Pauline; and two daughters, Elizabeth Carpenter and Dana Diema. Survivors include his daughter, Kelly Ann Destefano (Fred); his brother, Walter Martin Carpenter (Beverly); his two sisters, Linda Geraldson (Tom) and Charla Roe (Robert Keir); also eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held in the Grace United Methodist Church, 16 Hillcrest Drive, Ravena, on Tuesday, November 21, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. A gathering will follow in the church hall. Interment will follow in the springtime. Arrangements are under the direction of Richards Funeral Home, 28 North Vernon St., Athens, N.Y. Condolences may be made at www.richardsfuneralhomeinc.net
