David Sager - Class of 1953

David Lawrence Sager, of New Windsor, a retired International Representative for
the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and life long area
resident, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Luke's
Hospital, Newburgh, NY. He was 82 years old. Son of Marjorie Gendreau and the
late William H. Sager. He was born on October 14, 1935 in Cornwall. He graduated
from Newburgh Free Academy in 1953 and became an apprentice alongside his father
with the IBEW. On January 17, 1960, he married his true love Elizabeth "Betty
Ann" Sager, who predeceased him in 2007 after 47 years of marriage. He is now
with her in eternal rest. A family statement reads: "Our father dedicated his
life to his family and his work. He was a truly devoted husband, father,
grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He took great pleasure, pride and
comfort in the unity of his family. He instilled a strong foundation of respect,
loyalty, compassion and love within our family. He will be deeply missed." Dave
was a devoted "brother" of his second family, the IBEW. He began his career as
an apprentice then became a journeyman, and later an Assistant Business Manager
for Local 631. In 1988, he was appointed as an International Representative for
the IBEW. He is survived by his loving children: David L. Sager II and his wife
Kim of Wallkill; Andrea Karnavezos and her husband, Tom, of New Windsor; Beth
Ann Miller and her husband, Tom of Wallkill; his adored grandchildren: David L.
Sager III, Justin Sager; Sophia Jonisz and her husband Erik, Pano Karnavezos;
Angelina, Kayla and Rosemarie Miller; brothers: William Sager and his wife Jane;
Stephen Sager and his wife Bernadette; many nieces and nephews, and a large
group of extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on
Friday, November 24th at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, November
25th at St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill
Mausoleum, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers memorial donations on David's behalf may
be sent to The Michael J. Fox Foundation at
