          Jackson J. Ostrander “Pops”, 82 of Newburgh, entered into rest on December 27, 2017. The son of the late Charles and Margaret (Jackson) Ostrander, he was born June 24, 1935 in Newburgh. He was married to the late Kathleen Ostrander. Pops was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, and proudly served our country with the US Army, 82nd Airborne. He worked as a Police Officer for the City of Newburgh, and was a member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 152 Junior Vice Commander, New Windsor. Survivors include his children: Deborah Monks, Roni Redner, Richard Mauro, Robert Mauro; siblings: Peggy Ruff, Charles Ostrander, Jean Palmero, Ida May Mazzarelli, Alson Ostrander; grandchildren: Paul Foti, Renée Henry, Alex Redner, Rebecca Redner, Nico Mauro, Rhianna Mauro, Kayla Mauro; 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Alson. Visitation will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 31 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday January 2, 2018 at the funeral home, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery. New Windsor.
