Frances Ruotolo Zambito - Class of 1944

  Frances E. Zambito of Newburgh, NY entered into rest on January 5, 2018. She was 91 years old. The daughter of Francesco and Clementina (Calcagno) Ruotolo, Frances was born in Newburgh and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1944. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters. Frances was married to Dr. John Zambito for 62 years, who predeceased her in 2012. They had five children: James and his wife Debra, Stephanie McDermott and her husband George, Dr. Jeffrey and his wife Kathryn, Dr. Alan and his wife Jeanmarie, and Dean. She had nine grandchildren: Helene Dobbins and her husband Ray, Dr. Kimberly Zambito-Dabroski and her husband Scott, Alexander and his wife Brodee, Brianna, Robert, Chiara, Ashley, Amanda, and Julia. She had a special love for her great-grandchildren: Hailey, Dylan, Austin, and Madyn. Frances is survived by her sister, Rachel Fitzgibbons, and her sister-in-law, Irene Ruotolo. She is predeceased by her sisters Anna Mekeel, Jenny Catania, Carmella Moroney, June McKnight, and her brother Frank Ruotolo. Frances loved her family. She enjoyed hosting macaroni night every Thursday at her home and playing Pokeno every Friday. The family would like to thank the staff at Glen Arden Health Center for their compassionate care, as well as Dr. DiLorenzo and Dr. Portelli. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY. A mass of celebration will be Wednesday, January 10th at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 25 S. Robinson Avenue, Newburgh, NY. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Marlboro, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Charity or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
