Joyce
Ann McNair-Russell was born at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, NY on February
20, 1953. She attended Newburgh City Schools and graduated from Newburgh Free
Academy. She was married to Vincent Russell and to this union they were blessed
with their son, Lamont Russell of Exeter Township, PA. Joyce was a very
dedicated employee of Star Expansion Ind. Corp., of Cornwall, NY of 20 years.
However, she is best known as the "Cookie Lady" of Market 32 Price Chopper of
Newburgh, NY where she always greeted you with a smile, conversation, and a
cookie. Joyce retired of 25 years. Joyce was a loving mother, sister, auntie,
friend, and a "Godmother" to any child or adult who needed LOVE! She enjoyed
singing, laughing and ushering in church. We all will definitely miss her famous
"Baked Ziti" at our family gatherings. Joyce leaves in cherished memories for
her son, Lamont Russell and wife, Stephanie Ann; three loving granddaughters:
Kayla Ann Russell, Amanda Christina Russell, Danielle Jane Russell, all of
Exeter Township, PA; siblings: Florence Shipman (Anthony) of Newburgh, NY,
Lawrence McNair Jr. of Montgomery, NY, Diane Peterkin of Claxton, GA, Oliver
McNair (Angie) of Newburgh, NY, Vincent McNair (Vicky) of Newburgh, NY;
cherished Godchildren: Jasmine Monroe, Shaquille and Brenton Wimberly of
Newburgh, NY; she also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was
predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Elizabeth McNair. Mrs. Russell will lay
in repose from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Springfield Baptist
Church, 8 Mattie Cooper Square, Beacon, NY. Service is at 11 a.m. at the church;
Rev. Ronald O. Perry Sr. will officiate. Interment will be at Cedar Hill
Cemetery, Middlehope, NY. Professional services entrusted to Rhodes Funeral
