Kathleen Delarede Walsh, 59, lifelong resident of the Newburgh area, died Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long battle against cancer. Born on March 9, 1958 in Newburgh, Kathy leaves behind her cherished daughter Kayla Walsh and Kayla's longtime companion Joe Cappelli. Kathy was predeceased by her husband, Jon C. Walsh; her parents John (Red) and Jeanne Delarede; her brother, Michael; and her sister, Gloria. In addition to Kayla, Kathy leaves behind her sister Anne Casey and husband John, her brother James Delarede and wife Stacy, her sister MaryEllen Sickler and husband Darren, and many nieces and nephews. When her family and friends recall Kathy, they will remember her as one of the strongest, most inspirational women they knew. Her happiest times were spent at Wanaksink Lake. She loved running, biking, playing tennis, being outside and, most of all, life. A celebration of Kathy's life will take place on Wednesday, January 17th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue in Newburgh, NY 12550. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hudson Valley SPCA, 940 Little Britain Rd, New Windsor, NY 12553.
