Donald Wilkes Brown of New Windsor, NY passed away peacefully on February 1, 2018 at the age of 89. Donald was born on February 10, 1928 to Daniel and Edith Brown in Newburgh, NY. He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1946 and attended Ithaca Collage studying music and education. He began his career with the State of New York DOT as a right of way agent. When he retired from the state he continued his career as Organist/Choir Director at Meadow Hill Reform Church and then went to the Church of the Good Shepherd where he retired after 38 years of service. Donald was an accomplished pianist and had a passion for music. He directed the Amphion Male Glee Club and sang and played piano for the Yankee Male Glee Club that barnstorms thru New England every summer. He was a member of the Newburgh Masonic Fellowship Lodge 52 for over 50 years and also a member of the Wallkill Masonic Lodge No. 0627 as organist. Donald is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Beth; sons: Stephen (Christine), Robert (Susan), Daniel (Patricia), Barry (Lindi); stepdaughters, Susan (Ray) and Christine (Will) along with 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Donald is predeceased by his son, Christopher; brother, Gordon and son-in-law, Jim Boryk. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday February 17 at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc., 239 Quassaick Ave. (Rte 94), New Windsor, NY.
