Mrs. Frances J. Collins Reilly, of the Town of Newburgh, a longtime resident of the area, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at St Luke's Cornwall Hospital surrounded by her family. Fran was 78 years of age. She was born in Newburgh, NY on April 8, 1939, the daughter of the late James F. Collins and Emma Miller Collins. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1957. She was introduced to the love of her life William J. Reilly Jr. on a boat ride on the Hudson. They were married at St. Mary's Church in Marlboro on April 29, 1961 and were blessed to share 53 wonderful years together. Bill predeceased her in 2014. After high school graduation she started work as a switchboard operator at Stewart Air Force Base in Newburgh. After her daughters were in elementary school she returned to the work force as a cafeteria worker for Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh. She was also employed by Mid- Hudson Savings Bank as a bank teller and eventually working in the mortgage department. Fran also worked as a legal secretary. She retired in 1992 to take care of her grandchildren, a "job" that she loved. Fran was a parishioner of St. Mary's Parish in Marlboro. She volunteered for many activities within the church community. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Middle Hope Fire Department and served as a Past President. Fran was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend. She loved being with her family and friends. Fran had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest. We love her and will miss her so very much. She was happiest helping and taking care of her family. Fran is survived by her daughters Lori Ann Mead and her husband John of Montgomery and Eileen Reilly of Newburgh; her four grandchildren, Timothy, Michael and Patrick Toomey of Newburgh and Katherine Mead of Montgomery. She loved her family and they were so precious to her. She is also survived by her sister Ellen Wylam of Mechanicsville, VA, and sister-in-law Anne Moro of Montrose as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were very special to her. In addition to her parents and her husband, Fran was predeceased by her sister Marie Rhodes, and her brothers-in-law Floyd Rhodes and Roy Wylam. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 27 at St Mary's Church, Route 9W, Marlboro, NY. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lattintown Road, Marlboro, NY. In lieu of flowers donations in Fran's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
