Mary D. Donahue Stoudnour "Martie" passed away March 4, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born in Newburgh to the late Joseph Benson Donahue, and the late Catherine Dederick Donahue. She was 68 years old. Martie married David Stoudnour on December 30, 1978 in St. Mary's Church in Newburgh. They reside in Walden, where they have raised their family. Martie graduated from Newburgh Free Academy, class of 1967. She attended Mount St. Mary's College, and then graduated from Mary Mount College with a degree in Nutrition. She was employed by St. Luke's Hospital as a dietician. She then worked as the Food Service Manager for the Dominican Sisters at Mt. St. Mary's Convent. Staying true to her passion for food, Martie then began her own catering business, "Catering by Martie". Through her business she was able to influence and inspire several young "chefs" to follow similar paths. After retiring from catering, Martie continued to spread her joy of food, and her love of people, by becoming the Food Service Manager for Sacred Heart School, and also by being the Deli Manager at Lahey's Midway Market. Martie was a true Bohemian who took care of all who came to her door. She fed the body, mind and spirit. None were turned away wanting. Not a person, dog, cat, or even a bird. Martie was a talented actress. She appeared in many productions with the Newburgh Civic Theatre, the Hudson Valley Conservatory POPS, as well as other the atrical venues in the area. She was an avid reader, loved to travel and could be found most days in her garden. Martie also spent over 30 years researching, compiling, and documenting her family's ancestry. Through her dedication she has insured that generations are able to know where we have all come from. Martie leaves to cherish her memory her husband David Stoudnour; her children Justin Stoudnour of Newburgh, Amelia Stoudnour of New York City, James Stoudnour, and his wife Tiffany, of Walden, and her precious granddaughter Alannah Stoudnour; sisters Catherine Bellamy of Tennessee, Hillary Lahey and her husband Joseph of Wallkill, sister-in-law Roberta Sorenson of North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother Joseph K. Donahue. Visitation will be Thursday March 8, from 4-7 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh. Mass will be held Friday, March 9 at St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh at 9:30 a.m. Donations in her memory may be sent to the Humane Society of Walden, in Walden New York. - April 21, 1949 - March 4, 2018
