Esther Borden Collins of Newburgh, NY - The world was gifted with the birth of Esther Borden on April 18, 1959 in Goldsboro, NC. She transitioned from her earthly dwelling place on March 22, 2018 at St Luke's Cornwall Hospital. She was 58 years old. After graduating NFA in 1977 she went on to receive her Bachelor's in Sociology in 1982 from SUNY New Paltz. She had a host of jobs ranging from an Avon representative to Department of Social Service, Social Worker were she retired from in 2005. For many years she was known as more than just a mother/homemaker. She was known to many as Aunt Esther. Throughout Esther's life she was known for selflessness and charitable contributions. She would always be ready to give you a smile, advice, or anything else you may have needed. She was always ready to assist at her home church of Best Temple Church of God and Christ, whether directing the choir, assisting in the kitchen, or making baskets/gifts for the holidays. She leaves to cherish her memories, one son: Raymond A. Collins of Newburgh, NY; two daughters; Melissa Collins of Baltimore, MD and Whitney Collins of Newburgh, NY; four brothers: Herman Wilson (Pamela) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Thomas Earl Wilson of Beacon, NY, Marshall Wilson of Clarksville, TN and Bishop-Elect John R. Borden, 1st (Lady Cassandra); three sisters: Emma Lee Johnson (Samuel) of Newburgh, NY, Lizzie Borden-Jackson of Woodbridge, VA, Debra Borden-White (Larry) of Newburgh, NY and countless nieces, nephews, friends, and special loved ones. She is predeceased by her mother, Queen Esther Borden and father, James Friday Borden; brothers: Jimmy Curl, James Earl "Cooder Pig" Borden, and Jerry Wilson. Mrs. Esther Borden-Collins will lay in repose from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 30 at Best Temple Church of God and Christ (5 to 6 p.m. Viewing and 6 to 8 p.m. Best Temple Musical Celebration). Funeral Service is at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31 at First United Methodist Church, 241 Liberty St., Newburgh, NY. Pastor Milton Best will officiate. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middlehope, NY. Professional services entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home, 259 Walsh Ave., New Windsor, NY 12553.
