Vincent "Vinnie" Salmeri, 85, of New Windsor, entered into rest peacefully on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Son of the late Stephen and Rose (Sardina) Salmeri, he was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 13, 1932. Vinnie was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. He proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Vinnie was an exceptional electrician and carpenter-he could fix anything! He was an avid weight-lifter and a fanatic towards exercise. Left to cherish Vinnie's memory are his sisters, Nancy Salmeri of New Windsor and Theresa M. Fry of Newburgh; nieces and nephews, Lisa Carver and her husband, Charles of Newburgh, Stephen Fry and his wife, Jean of Newburgh and Gordon Fry Jr. and his wife, Lonne of New Windsor and 5 great-nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be celebrated privately in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Vinnie's memory may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
