Jeanne Travers Zweig died in Belmont, CA on March 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Maurice and Rose Travers. Jeanne was born in Newburgh, NY on September 4, 1923. She was the fourth of five sisters. She graduated from the Newburgh Free Academy in 1940, and attended the State Teachers College of New York at New Paltz. She moved to New Haven, Connecticut to help in her sister's women's clothing store. In New Haven, she met, and in 1945 married a young Yale engineering professor, Felix Zweig. She worked in the clothing store for more than 20 years, going often to New York to buy clothes for the store. Jeanne and Felix enjoyed a long happy life together. Jeanne was a fabulous cook, and co-authored a cook book, Savoir Fare, with her old friend Lois Levine. She and Felix traveled the world, and moved from New Haven to Florida in 1995, then to Oakmont in 2002. She was always beautiful and immaculately dressed. She delighted her family and many friends with thousands of cakes and cookies. She leaves behind three grieving sons, Jon (Laura), Richard (Loretta), and David; seven grandsons, Jacob (Jill), Noah, Samuel, Max (Jenny), Charles (Kristine), Louis, and Benjamin; great grandchildren Jack, Simon, and Penny, and one sister, Miriam. She was preceded in death by her husband Felix in 2007. We are grateful to the nurses and staff from Vitas Hospice for their help with Jeanne's final illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 30, 2018 at The Santa Rosa Memorial Park Chapel, 1900 Franklin Ave. Santa Rosa. Burial will follow. Donations may be made to the Friendship Circle of the Jewish Community Center of Sonoma County, or to Congregation Shomrei Torah.
