Erik
Somogyi, a lifelong area resident entered into rest on Tuesday, April 3, 2018
after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 46. Son of Stephen G. Somogyi of
Newburgh and Bonnie Lynn Fair of Florida, Erik was born in Newburgh on October
11, 1971. Erik was a Systems Supports Technician with Global Foundries, IBM,
East Fishkill. His favorite places included the Jersey shore and Lake George;
and when he travelled, it was always to a warm tropical beach. Other interests
included constant workouts at the gym and running, especially competitive races.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his stepmother, Donna Somogyi;
Erik's longtime companion and love of his life, Tammy M. Phillips and her
daughters Allison and Kerianne of Stamford CT.; a stepbrother Stephen Grieco and
his wife Shanelle of New Paltz and a stepsister Jessica Grieco and her companion
Randy Massena of Ridge Field Park, NJ. He also has a loving Aunt Debbie and
Uncle Bob from Morgantown, W.Va. Erik also was blessed with great friendships
and lots of love and laughter in his life. Visitation will take place on Friday,
April 6, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and
Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road (Rt.32), Newburgh. A Funeral Service
will take place at the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7th at 9:30 am. Burial
will follow at Calvery Cemetery, New Windsor. Contributions may be made in
Erik's memory to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center,
