Irving Rayford - Class of 1965

Irving
Rayford quietly passed away at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital on Tuesday April 3,
2018 after a short Illness. He was the beloved son of the late Leg and Louise
Smith Rayford Born in Jenkins Jones, West Virginia on August 2, 1947. Irving
left West Virginia at an early age and lived in Newburgh, NY most of his life.
He was educated in the Newburgh School District and graduated from Newburgh Free
Academy. Irving was immediately drafted by the U.S. Army and deployed to
Vietnam. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, and was an avid reader, he also
enjoyed watching sports and painting and all of the happy memories and good
times, at the family cookouts and holiday gatherings on Third Street. Irving
leaves to recall his sister, Gladys Rayford of Petersburgh, VA and Loretta
Freeman and loving brother Maxford Rayford of Newburgh, NY; two aunts, Lucille
Glover and Lula James of Youngstown, OH; a host of nieces, nephews and other
relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Let
Rayford; his brothers Henry Rayford and Leb Rayford, Jr. of Newburgh, NY; sister
Sandra Mims of North Carolina. Will be missed greatly by his nephew, Coach
Harold Rayford. Mr. Rayford will lay in repose from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday April 9
at Mt. Calvary FBH Church 167 Grand St. Newburgh. Service begins at 11 a.m. at
the church. Rev. Erma Williams will officiate. Professional service entrusted to
Rhodes Funeral Home. 259 Walsh Ave. New Windsor NY
