George Butwell - Class of 1969

  George R. Butwell, 66, entered into rest on April 8, 2018. The son of the late George and Sue Butwell, he was born August 28, 1951 in Newburgh. George was a graduate of NFA and attended USC to play football. He was a retired member of Laborers Local 17, was a member of YMCA Floor Hockey League, Washington Heights Association Inc. and was a Golden Gloves Boxer. Dad enjoyed playing cards and followed all sports especially track, football, boxing, horse racing and Texas Hold'em. - "A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do." -Bob Dylan. He is sadly missed at home by his girlfriend Michelle Sprague and their animal companions Madison and Lucky; children, Kasey Butwell McCarthy and Chris McCarthy, Georgie and Susann, Sara Gallo and her husband Mario Gallo and their mother Gloria Parisi; his amazing sister Marianne Butwell; grandchildren, Dylan and Harper McCarthy, Kora Zen Butwell, and the Gallo's, Giulia, Lucia, Giacomo, Lilliana, Alessia, Sebastiano, and Emilia. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Sunday, April 15 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass will be held on Monday at St. Patrick's church at 10 am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to San Miguel Academy of Newburgh, 245 Renwick St., Newburgh NY 12550. - Born: August 28, 1951 - Death: April 8, 2018
