James Ciccarello - Class of 1966

    James Ciccarello, a longtime area resident of Newburgh, entered into rest on May 3, 2018 at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 70 years old. The son of the late Salvatore and Rosaria (Franciamore) Ciccarello, James was born on January 6, 1948 in Poughkeepsie, New York. He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy - Class of 1966, and joined the United States Army where he attended Engineering School and successfully completed Engineer Equipment Maintenance Courses. He then went on to college and had a career in various jobs in construction, mainly painting. James was a loving father and grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was an independent, hard working man who loved his family and was an avid Yankee and Giants fan. He also enjoyed playing poker with his friends. He is survived by his loving son, Damian and his wife, Damaris; loving grandchildren: Alisha, Selena and Jayden of New Windsor; his siblings, Nina LoPresti of Newburgh, Lillian Monte and her husband Joseph of New Windsor; his sister-in-law, Teresa Ciccarello of Mt. Ephraim, NJ; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Mary Ciccarello of Edgewater, FL, along with several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law: Angelina and Joseph Smolinksi, Vera and Clyde Lince, Rita and Kenneth Weatherly; brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Ella Mae Ciccarello; brother, Philip Ciccarello and brother-in-law, James LoPresti. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses on the second floor of Emerald Peek Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Peekskill, NY for their compassion and thoughtfulness in our time of need, and a special thank you to Dr. John Hordines for his care and compassion to James and the family during his final days. The family respectfully requests donations in lieu of flowers. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 6th and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, May 7th at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, 239 Quassaick Avenue, New Windsor, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 7th at Sacred Heart Church of Newburgh. The burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
