John Peter "Mitch" Mitchell Sr. of New Windsor entered into rest Thursday, May
17, 2018. He was 76. Son of the late Thomas and Alida (Cunningham) Mitchell, he
was born June 17, 1941. John was a graduate of NFA Class of 1959 and completed
Technical School through IBM achieving the position of Senior Electrical
Mechanical Technician for 38 years. In Gods Word, Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am
the Way, and the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through
me." John lived his life believing in Jesus and submitting to his way in every
decision he made regardless of the circumstances around him. The fruit of his
faith was expressed in the love and devotion for his wife "Rosie", his children
and grandchildren. John had an infectious aura about him that brought joy to
everyone he met which will always be a testament of his life. John was
predeceased by his loving wife, Rose M. Mitchell "Rosie", he is survived by his
children, Colleen Bailey of New Windsor, John P. Mitchell Jr. and wife Kim of
Hamden, CT, and Chris Mitchell and wife Nicole of Montgomery; his grandchildren,
Tyler, Justin, Haley, Michael and Andrew Mitchell. Visitation will be held from
2-5 pm on Sunday, May 20 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. In
celebration of John's life, a Christian Memorial Service will take place at 11
am on Monday, May 21 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh, NY
(section 30). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Precious
Paws, Inc., P.O. Box 454, Vails Gate, NY 12584 or Church at the Bridge,
