Edward J. "EJ" Conklin passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 22, 2018 at
Westchester Medical Hospital. The son of Priscilla and Ira D. Conklin Jr., he
was born July 10, 1963 in Cornwall, NY. A 1982 graduate of the Newburgh Free
Academy, he worked at Ira D. Conklin & Sons, Inc. until his retirement in 1998.
He was a life-long resident of the Newburgh area. Anyone who knew EJ knows he
was an avid fan of the band KISS and could often be found going to concerts with
friends and listening to music. EJ loved to travel and was always up for a night
out on the town. Always the life of the party, the unofficial mayor could not go
anywhere without running into someone he knew, and his smile and laughter was
always contagious. EJ had a kind and generous heart, and his carefree and
fun-loving attitude will be forever missed. He is survived by his parents Ira
and Priscilla Conklin of New Windsor, NY; his brother Ira Conklin III and his
partner Mary Beth Maio of New Windsor, NY; nephew Ira Conklin IV of New Windsor,
NY; niece Caitlin Hogan and her husband Brendan Hogan of Cornwall on Hudson, NY;
great-nieces Aislinn and Nora Hogan of Cornwall on Hudson, NY; and numerous
aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 25 from 4-8
PM at the Meadowbrook Lodge, 1290 NY-94, New Windsor, NY. A service will be held
Saturday, May 26 at 10 AM at the Meadowbrook Lodge, with entombment following in
Cedar Hill Mausoleum, 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations can be made to a charity of your choice in EJ's name.
