James W. Sarvis "Jim" - Class of 1961

James “Jim”
Warren Sarvis, Sr., 76, of Summerville, husband of Ellen Sarvis, passed away on
Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his residence. A memorial service will be held on
Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society of Ulster, NY, 159
Green St., Kingston, NY 12401. Jim was born on February 17, 1942 in Newburgh,
NY, son of the late Ormond and Pearl Sarvis. He graduated from Newburgh Free
Academy in Newburgh, NY. He then joined the United States Navy. After serving
his time in the Navy he retired from New York State Department of Corrections.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Jim mostly enjoyed fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife Ellen are: two daughters: Lisa Lytle (John) of
Pennsylvania and Deborah Sarvis (Aaron) of Wallkill, NY; two sons: James Sarvis
Jr. (Patty) of Wall Kill, NY and Michael Patrick Jones (Cathy) of Kingston, NY;
two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers: Ormond Sarvis, Jr.
(Ruth Ann) of Middletown, NY, Bill Sarvis, Sr. (Ancell) of Summerville, and
Bobby Sarvis of Florida. Jim was predeceased by one grandson: Richie Sarvis and
one sister: Carole Sarvis. A memorial message may be written to the family by
