Geri Kenger, 93 of Newburgh, loving mother, Nana, aunt, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2018. The daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Vitay) Geri, she was born July 7, 1925 in Roseton, NY. She was married to the late John A. Kenger Sr., whom she married on October 26, 1947 in Our Lady of Mercy in Roseton. Ethel was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and retired as Secretary to the Superintendent of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Town of Newburgh Golden Age Club where she served as Secretary. Ethel was an inspiration to her family and a devoted friend who loved to travel, dine out, and enjoy life. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Diemer of Santa Rosa, CA; her son John Kenger Jr. of Newburgh; grandchildren, Adrienne Diemer of Clifton Park, NY and Maclaine Diemer of Los Angeles, CA; her sister Kathryn Biasini of Newburgh; and nieces and nephews Stephanie Kenger, Kathy Morhous, Terry Green, MaryAnne Lostaglio, Frank Biasini Jr. and Gerry Selemon. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her sister, Rose Selemon DeCrosta. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Thursday, July 12 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Friday, July 13 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Mt. St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Ethel's memory may be sent to the American Heart Assn.
