Donald E. Rehrey Sr. - Class of 1946

      Donald E. Rehrey Sr., 90 of Newburgh, entered into rest on July 27, 2018. The son of the late Lawrence and Mable (Greenwood) Rehrey, he was born February 11, 1928 in Newburgh. He was married to his loving wife, the late Joyce Baisley for 47 years. Donald was a beloved father and mentor to many who loved hunting and fishing with his sons. He loved his family and our Saturday night bowling parties. He was a retired City of Newburgh Fire Dept. Local #589 Member, where he was past Union Officer, and loved serving his community. Donald loved his country by serving in WWII and the Korean War. Donald was a life member of the Orange Lake and the New Paltz Rod & Gun Clubs, Burnt Brook Sportsman, served as past assistant Scout Master Troop 10, Post Jr. Vice Commander VFW 973, was a member of American Legion Post 152, Korean War Veterans Assn., WWII Memorial and 5th RCT Assn. He is survived by his sons, Shawn T. and Donald E. Rehrey Jr and daughter Eydie Mae Rehrey, all of Newburgh; sisters Mabel Gordon of Kannapolis, NC and Clara Davidowski of Elmira, NY; sister-in-law Glenna Rizzo of Middletown; brother-in-law Brett Baisley of Newburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth and two brothers, Robert and Lawrence. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, August 1 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday at St. Francis Church, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery. Death: July 27, 2018
