Alice E. Brady Applebaum - On August 2, 2018, Alice E. Applebaum, passed away, surrounded by her loving family. She was 74 years old. She was the beloved mother of Tracy Philips and Alex Applebaum, son-in-law Bob Philips and daugher-in-law Jen Mullen, devoted grandmother of Haley and Sarah Philips and Ellie and Colin Mullen, dear sister of Brenda Brady and Cora McGrath. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Alice was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 25, 1944 to Alice Brady and a mysterious Asian man. She grew up in Philadelphia, encircled by her close-knit extended family, where she was affectionately known as "Dolly." At age 18, she moved to Albany, where she met and married a navy man named Barry Applebaum. Together, they had two children, Tracy and Alex, who was "accidentally" conceived 11 years after, according to Tracy. Alice lived in many places, including Billerica, MA, Buffalo, NY, Reston, VA, Martha's Vineyard, MA, where she started and ran a very successful small business and was very active in the Rotary club, and finally in Baltimore, MD to be next to her daughter Tracy and grandchildren, Haley and Sarah. Every summer, she spent time with her west coast grandchildren, Ellie and Colin Mullen, in Seattle. Her greatest joy was her beloved grandchildren; she was devoted to them to no end. We welcome friends and family to join us as we celebrate Alice's life on Saturday, August 25th, at 2pm, at Ruck Towson Funeral Home, 1050 York Road. A gathering will be held at the home of Bob and Tracy afterwards. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to make donations to the ASPCA (https://secure.aspca.org/donate/donate).
