Leo John Sladeski - Class of 1946

      Leo John Sladeski, 89, of Gardiner, NY entered into rest on August 15, 2018 at home. The son of the late Peter and Anna (Wojcicka) Sladeski, he was born November 23, 1928 in New Windsor. Leo was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Moose Club, and the American Legion. He was employed with the Evening News Circulation Department for more than 30 years, and worked as a Custodian for the Newburgh Enlarged City School District for more than 25 years. He will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved unconditionally and did for everyone and asked for nothing in return. He was kind, funny, loved whole-heartedly and believed in family. Now Leo is with his birth family and most loving friend, Edward Mitchell. Survivors include his loving wife, Marcia Ann Sladeski; children: Christian Peter Sladeski (Newburgh), Kathleen Ann Kerzner (Sayville NY), Leo Michael Sladeski (Newburgh), Betsy Jane Mackey (Gardiner, NY); Joseph Knox, loving nephew, but loved as a son by Leo, and a brother by Chris, Kate, Michael and Betsy; grandchildren: Victoria Weber, Donna Sladeski, Samantha Sladeski, Zachary Kerzner, Ryan-Jayne Kerzner, Brandon Waite, Megan Sladeski, Lauren Sladeski, Allison Sladeski, William Mackey, Brian Mackey; great-grandchildren: William Mackey, Olivia Weber, Ethan Joseph Eckroth, Kyle Dora Kerzner; nieces and nephews: Roseanne, Joe, Karen, Marshalene, Tessie, Peter, Kia, and Donna-Marie. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings: Stella Lahey, Frank Sladeski, Joseph Sladeski, Edward Sladeski, Chester Sladeski, Elizabeth Knox, Alex Sladeski, Paul Sladeski and Stanley Sladeski; nephews Glen and Joseph and niece Debra. Visitation will be held from 2-5 pm on Sunday, August 19 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 20 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor.  November 23, 1928 ~ August 15, 2018

Chester J. Sladeski of Newburgh, NY a corker with Trap Rock Inc. and long time resident of the area, passed away Tuesday Dec. 25, 2001, at St. Lukes Hospital. He was 78.The son of the late Peter and Anna Wojecki Sladeski, he was born Sept. 8, 1922.Chester was married to Fannie Vellake Sladeski.He was a WWII Navy veteran.Survivors include his wife, Fannie at home; one brother, Leo Sladeski of the Town of Newburgh; one sister, Stella Lahey of New Windsor; and several nieces and nephews.Friends and relatives may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday Dec. 27 at Coloni Funeral Home, Rt 9W, New Windsor.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday Dec. 28, at St. Francis Church, Benkard Ave., Newburgh.Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor.
