Matthew J. A. Pettit, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Friday, August 17, 2018 at St. Luke's Cornwell Hospital. He was 44. The son of Ronald J. Pettit and Frances (Stevens) Willden, he was born on July 9, 1974 at USMA, West Point, NY. Matthew was a talented welder of sculpture that last worked for Acorn Forge Fabricating in Montgomery. In addition to his parents, Frances Willden, of Town of Newburgh and Ronald J. Pettit of Wappingers Falls, Matthew is survived by his son, Travis Pettit of Bloomingburg; stepfather, Gordon Willden; sister, Junnie Morales of Camarillo CA; brother, George Pittit of Maybrook; grandparents,: Mary Pettit and Grace Stevens; God daughter, Chase Morales; and one grandson Jayden. Private cremation has taken place at the Cedar Hill Crematory. Memorial Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road, Newburgh, NY.
