Leverdia "Sandy" Jackson Linzsey, a former resident of Newburgh, New York passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Pensacola, Florida. She was 66. Sandy was born on December 23, 1951 in Batesville, Mississippi. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1970. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mount Saint Mary's College in 1974. Sandy relocated to Pensacola, Florida with her Husband Eugene Linzsey and their children Jamel and Kareem Linzsey. She worked for Howard Hughes Corporation and then as an Elementary School Teacher for the Baldwin County School District for 25 years. Sandy retired in 2014. She is survived by her husband Eugene Linzsey of Pensacola, FL, and her son Kareem Linzsey of Louisville, KY; mother Esther Jackson of Newburgh, NY; siblings Barbara Jean Ibocko, Willie E. Jackson and Chom, Katha J. Jackson all of Newburgh, NY, Rex Jackson of Sacramento, CA and Evelyn Moore and husband Gerald of Middlehope, NY; grandchildren Jalen Linzsey of Louisville, KY and Amaya Linzsey of Seattle, WA; she also leaves behind a host of many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sandy is predeceased by her son Jamel Linzsey and her father Willie B. Jackson. A public viewing will be held October 11th from 12 to 9 pm at Joe Morris & Son Funeral Home located in Pensacola, FL.
