Hugh C. Clarke, 101 of Stony Brook, NY died October 5, 2018. He was born in Sag Harbor, NY to the late Rev. Ebenezer O. Clarke and Sarah Jane David on September 26, 1917. Mr. Clarke graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1936. He received a BA from South Carolina State College, and an MA from NYU. He was technical sergeant (TSgt) in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. In 1979 he retired from a management position in the NYS Department of Labor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Garrett of 68 years; brother, Elsburgh, and sisters, Elfrieda and Juanita. He is survived by his daughters, Hughette and Jan; his sister, Cleola Dowdy and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 13 and from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, October 14. His Funeral Service is at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Moloney's Hauppauge Funeral Home, 840 Wheeler Road (Rte. 111), Happauge, NY 11788, 631-361-7500. Mr. Clarke will be interred at Calverton Nation Cemetery on Monday.
