John A. Obermeyer - Class of 1977

John A. Obermeyer a lifelong resident of the area entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, October 31, 2018. He was 59. Son of the late John F. and Mary (Cunningham) Obermeyer, John was born December 30, 1958 in Newburgh. John was a graduate of NFA and the University of Syracuse with dual degrees in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Science. He was employed as a warehouseman at UPS in New Windsor. He was a very talented landscape artist, avid gardener, prolific reader and calligrapher. He appreciated Hollywood movies and was critical of any acting talent. John was a faithful friend to the people who knew him and now admire him for it. Survivors include his sons: Jacob Obermeyer of Corpus Christi, TX and Christopher of Bremerton, WA, brothers, Michael Obermeyer of Lady Lake, FL, Carl Obermeyer of Newville, PA and Denis Obermeyer of Belmont, NC; sisters, Teresa Svetich of Sacramento, CA, Marie Marshall of Gaithersburg, MD and Kathleen Heidmann of the Town of Newburgh. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sisters: Patricia Smith, Joan Acquaro and Alice Obermeyer. Private cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory. A Memorial Service to honor John's life will be announced at a later date.
