George Patterson - Class of 1945

    George I. Patterson, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, November 30, 2018. He was 92. Son of the late William and Allada (Terwilliger) Patterson, he was born on October 12, 1926 in Newburgh. George retired as a driver for Highland Ice Cream, where he also ran the ice cream shop across from North Jr. High for many years. After retiring he worked for Newburgh Paint and Wallpaper. He loved all sports and was an avid Newburgh Free Academy Goldback fan, never missing a game, and was thrilled when his son took him to the state championship games in 2009. George also loved McDonald's coffee and cheeseburgers. Survivors include his wife, Theresa; two sons, Richard G. Patterson of Cocoa, FL, and Frank J. Patterson and his wife, Lisa of the Town of Newburgh; two stepdaughters, Sandra Sutton of Newburgh and Sherry Deyo of New Windsor; three grandchildren: Lauren Patterson, MaryCatherine Patterson, Frank J. Patterson, Jr., and the love of his life, his great-granddaughter, Baillee Hibler; several nieces and nephews also survive. George was predeceased by an infant son; a stepson, Harry Todd; his first wife, Mary Bonura; and four brothers: Charles Patterson, Ralph Patterson, Kenneth Patterson and William Patterson. Private Visitation and Service will take place at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.
