Francis "Frank" Lander - Class of 1942

    Francis "Frank" A. Lander of the Town of Windsor, the retired owner of Frank Lander Paving Inc. in New Windsor, entered into eternal rest Friday, November 30, 2018. He was 94 years old. Son of the late Augustus J. and Ella (Terwilliger) Lander, Frank was born May 8, 1924 in Newburgh, NY. Frank was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He proudly served his country as a medic in the United States Army during World War II receiving the Purple Heart Medal. Frank is survived by his children: Phylis E. Silver of Marlboro, Ronald F. Lander and wife, Ellen of Wallkill; grandchildren: John B. Silver and wife, Nettie, Jason M. Silver and his wife, Eve, Anne Lytle and husband, Kenny, Jennifer Vasta, Tricia Scancarello and husband, Nick, Kelly Hinspeter and husband, Tim, Kristin Chiavaro and husband, Brendon; seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Clara A. (Martini) Lander on November 6, 2010; brothers: John, Augustus, and Louis Lander and son-in-law, John B. Silver. Visitation to which family and friends are invited will take place from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 4th at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation, 188 No. Plank Rd. (Rte 32), Town of Newburgh. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 5th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 145 Benkard Avenue, Newburgh. Burial with military honors is to follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
