Patricia McLaggan Mitchell - Class of 1959

  Patricia Maria McLaggan Mitchell, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cornwall, NY, on January 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late James Forest McLaggan and Veronica (Scott) McLaggan. Patricia was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. She married Ray Paul Mitchell, who predeceased her in August of 2013. She worked privately for home care patients. A parishioner of Saint Patrick's Church, she also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Goodwill Fire Department. Patricia enjoyed dancing, playing Bingo and traveling to Cape Cod. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Patricia is survived by her son-in-law Frank Valdina III, nephews Dennis Nixon and John Lisi; her brother-in-law Nat Mitchell and his wife Theresa; sisters-in-law Shirley Hoey and Joan Hoey; as well as many more nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dear friend who was like a sister to her, Elaine Delong, and her beloved dog Buttons. In addition to her husband and parents, Patricia was predeceased by her daughter Patricia Mitchell Valdina; her siblings Jean, Phyllis and James; nephew Robert Nixon; sister-in-law Martha Hoey. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5 from 6-8pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Funeral Service will take place at 11am on Thursday, December 6 at Brooks Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made out to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Ct. Newburgh, NY 12550.
