Louis John Farina Jr., of Yonkers, NY, entered into rest on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 90. Son of the late Louis John Farina Sr. and Anna T. (Mancuso) Farina, he was born February 20, 1925 in Newburgh. Lou proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He survived the sinking of his ship, the USS Princeton, in Leyte Gulf. He was a charter member of Catholic War Veterans Post 386 and a member of the original Color Guard. A devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is deeply loved and admired by his entire family. Lou was defined throughout his life by his loyalty, honesty and integrity, but most especially by his love for his family. The wisdom and guidance he provided to his entire family will be etched in our hearts forever. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Linse) Farina, at home; his children, Lynn Distefano and her husband Jim, Kym Garbatini, Stephanie Farina Cabral and her husband Mario and Tracy Daniels; his brother, Joseph R. Farina http://www.nfayearbooks.com/mboard3/msg/4313.html  and his wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Stephen and wife Christina Distefano, Bryan Distefano and wife Jeannine, Michelle Worden and husband Art, Geoffrey, Ryan and Olivia Garbatini, Meghan Koutros and husband Justin, Amanda Sweeny and Julianna Daniels and Steven Daniels; great-grandchildren, Ava and Mateo Distefano, Jake and Everly Distefano, Dallas and Madison Worden, Kali Lewis and Clayton Koutros. He was predeceased by his first wife, Julianna C. Farina, his son, S. Stephen Farina, and his brother, John L. Farina  http://www.nfayearbooks.com/1938_memorial_page.html  Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, July 15 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 16 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with burial with military honors following in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Catholic War Veterans Post 386, PO Box 4602, New Windsor, NY 12553. - February 20, 1925 - July 11, 2015
