Matthew "Red" Ferguson passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 at his home. He was 97 years old. He is the son of the late Matthew and Anna (Hunter) Ferguson. He was born in Newburgh, NY on January 10, 1922. He graduated From Newburgh High School; after school Matthew joined the United States Army. He served as an Army Private 1st Class Co "C" 389th Infantry in Hawaii and Japan for four consecutive years. After his service he worked as a Planner/Estimator at West Point. Matthew is survived by, and will be dearly missed by his children Fred (Charlotte) Ferguson of Danville, Indiana, Don Ferguson, Brian (Barbara) Ferguson of Durham, North Carolina, and Melinda Dooley; grandchildren Holly Squarci, Derrick Ferguson, Evan Dooley, Jeremy (Stephanie) Ferguson, Jaclyn (Tim) Henderson and Emily (Matthew) Mayer; great-grandchildren Nicholas Squarci, Michael Alvarado Jr., Gracie Henderson, Denver Henderson and Duke Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. Matthew is predeceased by his beloved wife Helen Cox Ferguson who entered eternal rest on May 12, 2004, his brother Harold Ferguson and his sister Margaret James. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 27 from 2-4pm at Brooks Funeral Home. A Funeral Home service will be held Monday, January 28 at Brooks Funeral Home at 10am with burial following at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. Replies to this post No replies yet |
