Eddie Lee Washington, Jr. (Jim), resident of Durham NC, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at home. He was 60 years old. Eddie was born May 17, 1958 to the late Eddie Lee Washington, Sr. and to Mary Francis Pierce Washington. He was educated in the Newburgh School District where he was a member of the Jr. ROTC. Eddie was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at the Men's Shelter of Charlotte NC as a chef, prior to becoming ill. He leaves to mourn his passing, one daughter, Shameka Hopper of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; three sons, Jerel Washington, Jeffrey Washington and Eddie Washington III of Poughkeepsie NY; and four step-children, Keisha James, Clyde Norwood, Cyril Norwood and Caesar Norwood of Charlotte NC; five brothers, Willie L. Pierce (Sandy) of Schenectady NY, John Pierce of Portland, OR, Oliver Stanley of Long, SC, Rev. Fabian Washington of Colonial Heights, VA and Charles Boone of Newburgh, NY; five sisters, Mable Pierce of Norfolk, VA, April Lewis of Walzorf, MD, Mary Ann Rutty, Daineshia Staples and Ashley Staples of Newburgh, NY, Mary Ann Rutty of Newburgh, NY, April Lewis of Walzorf, MD, Ashley Staples of Newburgh, NY, and Daineshia Staples of Newburgh, NY; 12 grandchildren; one uncle, Robert Washington of Maysville, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Eddie was predeceased by his grandparents, Sylvester and Rosie Lee Pierce and Pearlie and Genevieve Lang Washington. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Baptist Temple Church, 7 Williams Street, Newburgh, NY.
