Jermaine Cobsy Cooper News CITY OF NEWBURGH NY 1 dead in Newburgh shooting; 4 arrested following police chase A fatal shooting in the City of Newburgh ended in a police chase into the City of Poughkeepsie and charges against four Poughkeepsie men, according to Newburgh police. Newburgh resident Jermaine Cooper, 40, died early Saturday morning after being shot, according to a release from the Newburgh police. Donnell Johnson, 24, of the City of Poughkeepsie, and Steven Williams, 29, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, were charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Kyreem Seiman, 18, and Tysheed McPhee, 23, both City of Poughkeepsie residents, were charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.

fired in the area of Hasbrouck Street before 10:30 p.m. Friday, according to a
release from the department. Police found Cooper shot in the lower torso. Mobile
Life Support Services transported Cooper to St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. He
died from his injuries around 2 a.m. Saturday, police said. Witness reports and
street cameras indicated the shooting took place from within a white Toyota
RAV4, and the SUV left the scene going toward Route 9W, police said. A Town of
Newburgh police officer spotted a vehicle matching the description travelling
northbound on Route 9W at high speeds. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but
the vehicle fled, resulting in a chase, according to the release. The chase
continued northbound on Route 9W before crossing over the Mid-Hudson Bridge. The
City of Poughkeepsie Police Department joined the chase as the car headed toward
the bridge, according to Poughkeepsie Sgt. George Camacho. The SUV crashed in
the area of Smith and Lent streets in the City of Poughkeepsie, and four
occupants fled on foot. City of Poughkeepsie police and other law enforcement
agencies arrested the four suspects, City of Newburgh police said. "The suspects
were quickly apprehended," Camacho said. "They only got a few feet from the car
