Joy Claire Mascitelli Lauffer, 65 of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on February 2, 2019. The daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Antonelli) Mascitelli, she was born May 21, 1953 in Newburgh. Joy graduated from Newburgh Free Academy, and was a Bookkeeper and File Maintenance Clerk for Grand Union and Stop & Shop and a member of Local 1262 for over 40 years. She also enjoyed many years boating with her husband Edward at the Cornwall Yacht Club. Mom was a strong, hard-working woman with a vibrant presence. She made her family the center of her life. Her kindness and generosity touched many. Survivors include her husband, Edward Charles Lauffer, whom she married on November 12, 1972; her children, Dana Richner and her husband Stephen of Montgomery and Erica Sayegh and her husband John of New Windsor; her brother, Alfred Mascitelli of Walden; sisters-in law Lynne Silvagni and Susan Pizzo, both of Newburgh; her grandchildren, Cailyn Claire Richner and Penelope Rose Sayegh; her uncle and aunt, Robert Mascitelli and his wife Janet of Rock Tavern; and nieces and nephews, Ralph Pizzo Jr. of Newburgh, Kristin Silvagni of New Windsor, and Jennifer Bannan and her husband Matthew of Cornwall-on-Hudson. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, February 5 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to St. Patrick's Soup Kitchen, 55 Grand St., Newburgh, NY 12550. Replies to this post
