Arthur J. Rivers of Mt. Vernon, New York, formerly of Newburgh, a retired Assistant Director for the Mt. Vernon Open Door, entered into rest Saturday, May 11, 2019. He was 73 years old. Son of the late Mr. Rivers and Mary Matagora, he was born March 1, 1946 in Newburgh. Arthur graduated from Newburgh Free Academy, he deeply appreciated his Italian heritage and was an avid cat lover. Survivors include his life partner of 27 years, Steven A. Davis of Mt. Vernon, NY; 1st cousins: Sherry Griffin and Sally Pizzarelli, as well as numerous 2nd cousins. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh. Memorial visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Wednesday, May 22, 2019 with a funeral service commencing at 5:30 during visitation. Father John Vondras will officiate. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery at a time convenient to the family.
