Madelyn M. Flannery of New Windsor, a lifetime resident of the area, as well as Irvington, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. She was 94 years old. Daughter of the late Francis and Louise Darthez Flannery, she was born on March 1, 1915 in Newburgh. Madelyn graduated from Newburgh Free Academy (See Camera Shy) and The Spencerian Business School. While employed for U.S. Steel in Manhattan, Madelyn was appointed as the first office manager for the U.S. Steel office in Caracas, Venezuela. In her years before retirement, Madelyn worked for JP Morgan Chase on Wall Street. She was a devout parishioner for St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh. Madelyn will be deeply missed by her family with whom she shared many stories about her time in Caracas, her love for Manhattan, the Jersey Shore, baseball and politics. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Rosalie Flannery and Lorraine Halstead and nephew, Geoffrey Finkenaur. The family will be present to receive friends today, Friday, February 5, from 4-6 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 6, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor
