Pano. G. Pliotis, age 60, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at North London Hospice in London, England, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 4, 1958, in Newburgh, NY, to George and Valerie (Striphas) Pliotis. Pano graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and received a BA from Williams College, JD from Boston University School of Law where he was on the Law Review, and LLM in Tax from NYU School of Law. He had a successful, 30 plus year career as a corporate lawyer specializing in international tax law. As a young lawyer he worked at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, New York City's oldest law firm, and in 1991 a job at the international law firm of Jones Day brought him to London, where he worked and lived for a few years and met his wife, Fiona Dunbar. Following their marriage on February 2, 1993, in London, they moved back to NYC, and four years later a job at Bank America Merrill Lynch brought him back to London, which then became their home for the next 22 years. During Pano's career in international tax law, he also worked at GE Capital, and most recently, at Baker Hughes, a GE company. Pano had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He was admired by his colleagues, friends and family for his intellect, sense of fairness and decency, engaging personality, wit, kindness, modesty, nurturing family-oriented nature, sense of adventure, taste in music and so much more. Pano truly lived life to the fullest enjoying conversations with his family and friends on a wide variety of topics, traveling, hiking, reading and politics, as well as music, where his knowledge and intellect was deep and wide spanning from his love of Bob Dylan to Greek Rembetiko blues. He is survived by his wife, Fiona Dunbar of London, England; daughter, Helena C. Pliotis, of London, England; son, George F. Pliotis, of London, England; mother, Valerie Pliotis, of Newburgh, NY; sister, Dina Pliotis, of New York, NY; and numerous cousins in the US, Canada and Greece as well as many dear friends worldwide.
