infantry officer in Vietnam in the Army’s 5th Battalion/7th Cavalry “Garry Owen”

After retirement John practiced

Management School at Ft. Belvoir, VA. He enjoyed his volunteer work with an
Ethics program mentoring future officers at West Point, and participated as an
active member of the Critical Issues Round Table here in Northern Virginia, who
recently commended his contributions and devotion to duty.
John was as much a best friend
to all dogs as they were to him, and was particularly fond of his collies: Duke,
Duchess, California Dreamer(seriously), Sierra, and Brannagh. John was an avid
reader of history and was a devoted sports fan. He overflowed with kindness;
broccoli was the only thing he ever hated. To him, a chocolate bar and peanut
butter were better than gold.
