  Melissa E. Dunn Owens, 47, of New Windsor, NY passed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008. Daughter of Ernest Dunn and the late Catherine Harris, she was born September 12, 1960 in Newburgh, NY. A 1977 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, she was a technician at IBM and a CNA at St. Luke's Hospital. She was a member of Empowerment Temple in New Windsor and fellowshiped for 13 years at the Living in Jesus Ministry, where she was a missionary and usher. She is survived by her husband, David Owens Sr. at home in New Windsor; son, David L. Owens Jr. and wife Cheryl of Middletown, Catherine Bullock and husband Curtis of Newburgh, Olivia Owens and fiance Stephen Daby of Newburgh, Javell M. Owens; seven grandchildren, Elijah, Zion, MaKayla, Jalena, Aliyah of Newburgh, Kelly, Dominique of Middletown; father, Ernest Dunn and wife Dorothy of Raleigh, NC; three brothers, Dwayne Johnson and wife Madeline of Longmont, CO, Darryl Dunn, Ernest Dunn of Raleigh, NC; five sisters, Mary Herring and Robert of Newburgh, Nadine Johnson of North Carolina, Cecetia Jacobs and companion Joseph Hall of Newburgh, Sonya Dunn of North Carolina and Donia Monroe (Ronnie) of Clinton, NC; Godchildren, Miyana Moore, Jonathan Cotton; best friend, Betty Russell of Newburgh; several nieces, nephews, cousins. Predeceased by grandparents, Beulah and Herman Johnson; mother, Catherine Harris; mother-in-law, Gertrude Owens; nephews, Timothy Jacobs, David Baldwin; and brother-in-law, John Willis. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-12 noon, Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Empowerment Temple, 59 Blooming Grove Temple, New Windsor, NY. Services will follow at noon at the church. Pastor Almetra Murdock will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor. Arrangements by Brutus W. Hodge Funeral Home. 845-561-4322
