Benedict, Theron M. of Newburgh, a lifetime area resident, entered into rest on Thursday, August 24, 2006 in Wingate of Dutchess, Fishkill, N.Y. He was 85. Son of the late Alonzo and Maybelle Marius Benedict, he was born July 9, 1921 in Leptondale, N.Y. Theron was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Class of '39, and was a foreman for the Town of Newburgh Highway Department. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Downes Benedict, whom he married on May 25, 1947 in St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh; his son, Richard Benedict and his wife, Karen, of Somers, N.Y.; one brother, Cornelius Benedict and his wife, Roxie, of Newburgh; one sister, Virginia Wood of Town of Newburgh; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Marguerite Reade and Blanche Baxter; and five brothers: Alonzo, Arnold, Wilbur, George and Henry Benedict. Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, August 27 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 28 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, with burial immediately following. (Camera Shy) Replies to this post No replies yet |
