Philip Anthony Ciccarello, of Edgewater, Florida, formerly of Newburgh, entered into rest on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the Southeast Volusia Care Center, Edgewater, Florida. He was 70. Son of the late Salvatore and Rosaria Ciccarello, he was born February 9, 1939 in Santo Stefano Quisquina, Sicily, Italy. Philip was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh and the Laborers International Union of North America. "Philip was a beloved and loving, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, who always put others before himself." He was a life long family man and always made time for family and friends. He had a wonderful zest for life and loved the beaches of Florida, playing bocce and dancing with Terry. He also loved to travel, especially to Atlantic City. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his loving companion, Theresa "Terry" Ciccarello; daughter, Lisa Fitzgerald and her husband, Patrick of Eagle River, Alaska; Charles "Bud" Budwin of Mt. Ephraim, New Jersey; grandchildren, Stephanie Fitzgerald and Michael Fitzgerald, both of Eagle River, Alaska; sisters, Nina LoPresti of Milton, Lillian Monte and husband, Joseph of New Windsor, Elvira Lince of Newburgh, and Rita Weatherly of Middletown; brothers, Albert Ciccarello and wife, Mary of Edgewater, FL and James Ciccarello of Newburgh; sister-in-law, Ella Mae Ciccarello of Milton; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Angelina Smolinsky and husband Joseph; brother, Andrew Ciccarello; brothers-in-law, James LoPresti, Clyde Lince and Kenneth Weatherly. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 31, at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers donations in Philip's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 419 E. Main St., Suite 307B, Middletown, NY 10940. Arrangements by Brooks Funeral Home.
