Sammie L. Ballard was born June 13, 1952 in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, to the late David and Ernestine Ballard. After graduating from Newburgh Free Academy, he went to Harvard University to study law. After his studies, Sammie joined the military, serving two terms, one in the Army and one in the Marines. After returning from his service, Sammie went to work at IBM as a senior specialist until their closing. To know Sammie was to love him. Missing you, your siblings: David "Kout" of Schen; Bobby (Rose) of Augusta, GA; Betty (Gary) of Middletown, NY; Chris (Josephine) of Peekskill, NY; Monaco, New York, NY; Dellapeno of Albany, New York; and Darlene (Ronald) of Newburgh, NY. And a very special cousin, Rebecca of New York, NY. Sammie was predeceased by his parents, David and Ernestine Ballard, his brother Jerry Ballard, and grandparents Solomon Barnwell and Ida Langly Barnwell.
