Catherine Booth Gilnick - Class of 1941

  Catherine M. Gilnick, 83 of Port Orchard, Wash., died in Bremerton, Wash. on November 6, 2007.She was born on March 7, 1924 in Newburgh, N.Y. to Arthur & Catherine Booth. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh, N.Y. in 1941. Catherine married Charles E. Gilnick on April 16, 1948 in New Jersey. He preceded her in death in 1998. Catherine worked for 30 years as a Telephone Operator at the New York Telephone Company in Newburgh, N.Y., retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Mary Church in New York, organizing and running many fund raising events during the 1970's (200 Club Parties). Catherine loved her trees and garden, shopping at Freddy's, Christmas & any other event where she could buy someone a gift. Most of all she loved her Pugs "Penny & Chip". She enjoyed her yearly trips to Laughlin with family and friends and meeting her friends at Bethel Square Cafe in Port Orchard. Surviving are sons Chuck Gilnick of Port Orchard and John Gilnick of Bremerton; grandchildren Renee Sentz of Yakima, Wash. and Heather Gilnick of Port Orchard; great-grandchildren Jack & Colin Sentz, Jacob Selbig & Sage Kidwell. She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Joan Gilnick and brother Charles Booth. Visitation Saturday, November 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Bremerton at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 12. Please sign the online guest book at www.rill.com.
