Mabel D. Hemingway, an Office Manager for Prudential in Newburgh, passed away Monday, November 20, 2006 at Kaplan Family Hospice Home, Newburgh. She was 97. Miss Mabel D. Hemingway, born June 6, 1909, the daughter of Ella Wurtenburg and Pervical Hemingway. Mabel lived her entire life in Newburgh. After graduation from the Newburgh Free Academy in 1927, Mabel went to work for the Prudential Insurance Company where she worked for 47 years, retiring in 1974 as office manager. She is a life member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where she was extremely active her whole life. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and and was a member and officer of the St. Martha's Altar Guild. She was active in the Hudson Valley Ministry, and the long time treasurer for the Church of the Good Shepherd's mission committee. She acted as a liaison for the local church with the diocese of New York headquartered at the Cathedral of St. John the Devine in N.Y.C. Miss Hemingway also had a lifelong interest and passion in horticulture. She was a long time member of the Community Garden Club of Marlboro on Hudson serving at various times as president and treasurer, and chaired many of the local flower shows. She served on the Board of Directors of the Holden Home of Newburgh since 1974. Beloved aunt of her nephew, Greg and Mary Hemingway of Wappingers Fall, N.Y.; her nieces, Pam and Pete Taylor of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Jackie and Robert Prichard of the state of Florida, Virginia and Gilbert Curl of Williamsburg, Va. and Jean and Robert Zaebft of Nevada. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2006 from 4-7 p.m. at the DiDonato Funeral Home and Thursday, November 30, 2006 from 10 a.m.- 12:45 p.m. at Church of the Good Shepard, Episcopal. Funeral services will be at Church of the Good Shepard, Episcopal on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 1 p.m. Father Desueza will officiate. Burial will take place Thursday, November 30, 2006 in the Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor. Arrangements by The DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc., Carl J. DiDonato, Jr. and Lawrence M.
