Message: I didn't know Bob well while living in Newburgh, although we shared the same neighborhoods and went to schools together. After I moved to Marlboro, Bob lived there as well with his sister and brother-in-law. In the early 90's all our connections came together when he married my close friend and colleague, Joanne Friedman. It was a love match that came later in life, and it was a wonderful gift for both them. They shared a love of music, photography , hiking and the outdoors. They had a wonderful house in West Hurley where we would gather on their deck at night, eat incredible BBQ Bob cooked(he was a great cook), and listen to Bob's favorite music (blues, 70's rock and roll). He had a row boat on the Ashokan and fished as often as he could. He made furniture for us, took pictures for us and came to visit us in Nova Scotia. After they bought their house in New Bern we visited there. When they moved there in 2015, we were happy for them. Even with Bob's serious dx. they were looking forward to a wonderful life there. And they had it- they started a Music site for New Bern performances, Bob had a boat and fishing on the river, and they lived in the historic district surrounded by New Bern culture. I am so happy for them that they had their tme together doing everything they loved.Bob was a sweet, kind and generous friend, a loving husband and a caring father to his daughter and stepchildren. He will be so missed by those of us who had the gift of knowing him well. Replies to this post No replies yet |
