    Graveside services with full military honors for Retired SFC Alphonso Jacobs 63, of Killeen, Texas will be Friday, September 28, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, in Killeen, Texas. Retired SFC Alphonso Jacobs passed away September 22, 2018, in Copperas Cove, Texas. Alphonso Jacobs was born on August 8, 1955 in Goldsboro, N.C. to Charlie Leroy Atkinson and Janie Ruth Weatherspoon. He departed this life on September 22, 2018, in Copperas Cove, Texas. Alphonso graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1974. Afterwards, he enlisted in the United States Army. While serving his country he received the following awards: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal 5th OLC, Good Conduct Medal 5th award, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numerals 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numerals 3, and the Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge Rifle M-16. He served his country for 20 years and retired with an honorable discharged. Alphonso will be missed for his beautiful smile and his love for others. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing dominos, cards, and going fishing, but most of all he loved being with family. Left to cherish his memories are: his wife, Tracy Jacobs of Jacksonville, FL; children: Alphonso J. Jacobs (Sarah) of Barre, VT, Shareff Brown of Sumter, SC, Lena L.R. Jacobs of Killeen, TX, Rakisha R. Vicks (Demond) of Killeen, TX, Christina Lester (Raymond) of Jacksonville, FL; siblings: Charles Jacobs of Tampa, FL, Phyllis Harris, Lisa Worrell, Carolyn Jacobs all of Goldsboro, NC, Cynthia Jacobs and Marcella Jacobs (David Saunders) both of Poughkeepsie, NY, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
