Richard "Rich" R. Johnson, of New Paltz and Newburgh, a regular DJ at Foley's Square and P & G's in New Paltz, and for Hudson Valley's Party Train, as well as an employee for Streeter Construction and long time area resident, entered into rest Saturday, January 6, 2001 in Vassar Brothers Hospital. He was 25. Son of George A. and Gail A. Barish Johnson, he was born September 26, 1975 in Suffern, NY. A family statement read "A wonderful son and brother, he was an avid sports fan until the final call. His true colors ran those of his favorite New York teams". Rich was a 1993 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and attended SUNY College at New Paltz and Ulster County Community College. He was a member of Newburgh United Soccer, NFA Soccer,Town of Newburgh Little League and TKO Softball. Survivors include his parents, George and Gail Johnson of Newburgh; and one brother, Robert G. Johnson of Newburgh. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday, January 11 in DiDonato-Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, January 12 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions on Rich's behalf may be sent to Town of Newburgh Animal Shelter, 645 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY 12550 or American Heart Association, 407 E. Main St., Middletown, NY 10940.
