Panayiota "Pam" Patsalos Nekos of Pleasantville, NY, after a long, beautiful life, was called into eternal rest on Saturday, December 15, 2018; she was 91. Pam was born in Newburgh, NY to Constantine and Agathe (Striphas) Patsalos She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and received a bachelor's degree in Math from Ladycliff College She subsequently obtained her Elementary School Teacher's Certification After teaching for several years, she worked for GE as an Engineering Assistant in its Gas Turbine Division After raising her family, she worked at PPG Biomedical Systems as an Executive Assistant in Pleasantville, NY Pam was a high-energy person who loved skiing and hiking, particularly with the Oyk Adirondack Club, painting and drawing, dancing, sports, parades and patriotic events As a child, she worked in her father's store, Patsalos Brothers Ice Cream and Confectionary Store Later in life, she was active in various organizations including the Contemporary Club, Pleasantville School PTO and several bridge and art groups She was a longtime member of the Church of Our Savior in Rye, NY where she was active in the Ladies Philoptochos Society, serving as treasurer for several years On July 6, 1957 she married Peter J Nekos of Kingston, NY They had 3 children, Athena (Costas) Loukellis (Hartford, CT), Barbara (Anthony) Soldano (Ridgefield, CT) and James (Michele Fennelly) Nekos (Katonah, NY) Pam loved and was so very proud of her loving grandchildren, Nicholas, Stephen and Alexander Loukellis; Peter, Demetrius and Georgia Nekos, her 7 nieces and nephews and a God-daughter In addition to her parents, Pam was predeceased by her brothers, Demetrios and Peter, his wife Angeline; sister, Georgia Janis, her husband Thomas; and sister-in-law, Maria (Nekos) Davis Pam had an appreciation for everyone she met resulting in many long-time friends She will be remembered for her gentle demeanor, wonderful personality and devotion to her family and friends Pam and Peter recently moved to Atria on the Hudson where she was enjoying her new friends and community A funeral service was held on Friday, December 21, at the Greek Orthodox Church of Our Saviour, Rye, NY Internment is at All Souls Cemetery, 175 Marble Ave, Pleasantville, NY Replies to this post No replies yet |
