Alan Atkins - Class of 2000

Alan "Al" Atkins Jr. of Newburgh, NY passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 29, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was 37 years young. Al is the son of Alan H. Atkins Sr. and Joyce (Stevens) Atkins. He was born in Newburgh, NY on May 12, 1982. Al was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy; he was also an Eagle Scout of Troop 327, a member of Wallkill Rod and Gun Club, NRA and CSEA Union member. We have lost an important part of our family. Al was a hardworking, caring and much loved son, brother, uncle and friend. Al always enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dogs. He was our rock and was someone we could always count on. He was always there to lend a hand or help in any way needed. Al was an avid outdoorsman, skilled carpenter and woodworker, he could fix just about anything. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will always be remembered as the wonderful caring and loving person he was. In addition to his parents Al is survived by his sisters April Atkins of Newburgh, NY and Amanda Atkins of Onamia, MN and his nephew Ryan Thompson of Onamia, MN. A celebration of life service will be held for Al in the future due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Al's family thanks everyone for their understanding, love, and support in this trying time.
